Princes' Islands in Sea of Marmara

I just returned from a day trip to Princes' Islands located in Sea of Marmara, off the coast of Istanbul. It was a field trip with a class of 15-year-olds and 2 teachers. We did some geographical field work, walked and climbed up to one of the peaks on the largest of the islands there. We had a great time for the weather was cool but sunny.

During the summer months and even in Spring, the Princes’ Islands are popular destinations for day trips from Istanbul. As there is no traffic on the Islands, the only transport being horse and cart, they are incredibly peaceful compared with the city of Istanbul. They are just a short ferry ride from both the Asian and European sides of Istanbul.

Enjoy the photos I have uploaded here.
Cheers!

Video and Pictures of Cappadocia, Turkey

Enjoy these pictures (sorry no video posted yet; had problem uploading it)

Hello from Turkey

Hi everyone!

Wish to take you to the best place I have visited in Turkey. It is called Cappadocia, meaning "Land of Beautiful Horses". It is a miraculous nature wonder filled with tableland, tall mountains, rock structures that look like chimneys (some are called fairy chimneys) caused by river and wind erosion.

A little history about Cappadocia : In the old Bronze Age the Cappadocia which was the population zone of the Assyrian civilization later has hosted the Hittite, Frig, Pers, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman civilizations. The first Christians escaped from the persecution of the Roman Empire in the 2nd century B.C. came to the Cappadocia over the Antakya and Kayseri and they have settled here. The first Christians finding the underground cities from Cappadocia have been hidden in these underground cities which gates were made in such way in which they couldn't be easily observed and they have escaped from the persecution of the Roman soldiers. Due that they had live in the underground cities for long duration without being able to go out they have developed these underground cities by making provisions rooms, ventilation chimneys, wine production places, churches, abbeys, water wells, toilets and meeting rooms.

See the photos and video I have here to get a glimpse of Cappadocia! Enjoy!

(Send me your email or post up your messages with your name and email address so that I can reply you. Love to hear from you all!)
